Most modernized, Western countries are known for their efficient rail systems – and soon, South Florida will be too.

Construction is currently underway for a new passenger rail station in Fort Lauderdale that is set to open in 2017. Part of the All Aboard Florida Brightline train system, this sparkling new station will be the newest stop on the future rail line that runs between Miami and Orlando.

Reach Miami in 25 Minutes

Skip the traffic, the parking hassles, and the road rage by hopping on the new rail line. It promises to reach Orlando and Miami 25% faster than would be possible in a car. Trains will begin running between Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach in 2017, and service all the way to Orlando will launch shortly after. Once completed, the timetable from Fort Lauderdale to nearby stations is expected to be:

  • Fort Lauderdale to Miami – 25 Minutes
  • Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach – 35 Minutes
  • Fort Lauderdale to Orlando – 2.5 Hours

Fort Lauderdale’s New Train Station

With 60,000 square feet of space and a convenient central location, the new rail station will be a centerpiece of Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Located at NW 2nd Avenue between Broward Boulevard and NW 4th Street, the station will connect the Sun Trolley, transit system, future Wave Streetcar, and planned Tri-Rail Station.

The station will feature a sleek, multi-story lobby and elevated passenger lounge – and best of all, direct access for travelers to Fort Lauderdale’s attractions, beaches, restaurants, and shops.

Fast Trains with Frequent Schedules

With 16 northbound and 16 southbound journeys each day, the Brightline will offer commuters, business travelers, and vacationers plenty of options when it comes to departure schedules. The complete trip from Miami to Orlando will take about three hours, which is about 30 minutes faster than by car – and that’s with no traffic.

Premium Rail Amenities

Forget the stresses of the road and relax. When you travel by train, you can kick back with a good book or watch a DVD on your tablet. Sort through your in-box. Take a power nap. Brightline trains will feature travel-enhancing features so that you can better enjoy the ride, including ergonomic seating and onboard Wi-Fi.
